I'm not sure I understand the system completely, but couldn't the shaman roll for the shoulders but save his "suicide" for the vest? FWIW, I always go with the old adage of "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." Using the example, let's say there are two shamans in the group. Since we're talking about The Elements set, we would only be talking about a the class list of the two lists, and if there is only one shaman, it automatically goes to the shaman because it's class specific roll. Let's say you have a rank of 700 and I have a rank of 500, which we would know from the in-game mod. If you definitely want the shoulders, you would suicide and, since you are ranked at 700, you would get them. This would drop you to the bottom of the list and put me at the 700 rank. If you wanted to hold out for the robe, you would simply roll and hope that I didn't suicide and that I didn't beat your roll. You would then still be at the top of the list if/when the vest drops.

I think the key thing that I disagree with in what you said is "even if no one else wants it." If no one else wants it, simply roll...there's no need to suicide, and this does not shift your rank. Again, maybe I am not completely understanding the system, in which case, please correct me. WhiteBoy 21:10, 21 November 2006 (EST)

  • I admit to having never used this system, and I haven't even heard of it before finding this page. But as described, if the Elements shoulders drop, and the lone shaman doesn't specifically say "I want that", thus dropping to the bottom of the list, it goes to whoever's on the bottom of the list, as per rule 5. Slightly modifying the system (only considering people who can actually use the item, then dropping to the bottom of that list, for instance) would make it quite feasible, though. But that's not what's described here. --Bobson 23:31, 21 November 2006 (EST)
    • After re-reading what is here, I admit that's what it sounds like from the short description on WoWWiki here. Did you read the flash walk-through? Most of what I got was from the flash, having never used this system either. From the flash walk-through, it sounds as if you can do a normal roll and if you don't win you can "suicide" if you really, really want it. It seems to be a good mix of keeping loot even with rolls but also allowing player ranks to come into play. In real-world use, I wonder if people generally roll or suicide; how often does someone feel the need to suicide? I may go hit their boards to see if I can find an answer to that. • Perfect example: Step through the flash to the Wessi example: "So we move on to the Ring of Fury. Those interest(sic) in the item are... Wessi." Next page, Wessi's at the bottom. But it's not very clear - there's no indication why the Dustwind Turban goes to highest-ranked of the interested ones, and the Qiraji Spiked Hilt goes to a roll. --Bobson 11:19, 22 November 2006 (EST)

Hey everyone, Joehunk (author of the SK UI mod and part author of the system itself) here. I'd second the motion of WhiteBoy above -- please hit the official SK forums for this type of discussion in preference to using this page. Threaded forums are much better than a Wiki for free-form discussion. I check those forums often, and so do lots of people with lots of experience with the system who have helpful hints to new folks. Thanks!
