This article contains lore taken from Warcraft novels, novellas, or short stories.

In an alternate timeline where Thrall died as a baby, Taretha Foxton's parents were blamed for "letting" him die; her father was demoted and her mother died of an illness. Taretha grew up wildly different, never learning how to read or write, and being physically abused by Aedelas Blackmoore until he tired of her. Because of Thrall's death, Blackmoore sobered up and conquered Lordaeron with an army of his own. Orcs became slaves to the people of Lordaeron, and all of these changes hardened Taretha's personality considerably.

Several years after the Battle of Blackrock Spire, Taretha found the Thrall from the main timeline, who had arrived after chasing Nozdormu through the Caverns of Time. She planned to sell him into slave labor and live off the reward money, but Thrall convinced Taretha of his identity with the locket that she gave him when he left Durnholde, as she was wearing the same one from her timeline, and the fact that she remembered the infant having blue eyes. She asked him about life in Thrall's timeline, and Thrall told her everything, only including her death at Blackmoore's hands when she specifically asked. Taretha was surprised by this, but ultimately told Thrall that it didn't matter; even if she had died the fact that she had made a difference was enough. This made Thrall realize that his Taretha had also known this before she died.

The two visited Dalaran, with Taretha pretending to be Thrall's master, asking for an audience with Krasus. They gave his apprentice, Devi, an acorn for the entry. Thrall realized that he had to live in the moment, and was able to find the lost Aspect of Time.[1]

Speculation[]

Questionmark-medium
This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.

When Taretha found Thrall, she was in her early thirties. Thrall knew that her main universe self didn't live beyond her 25 years (died in Year 18). This would mean that Thrall entered the alternate Azeroth after the events of the Third War and its aftermath (which apparently didn't happen here).
