The Lost Vikings franchise was one of the first game series created by Silicon & Synapse (later Blizzard Entertainment). It was a humorous puzzle-platform video game franchise, with the first game having been originally released for the Super NES in 1993. In The Lost Vikings, the player controlled three separate vikings with different abilities. The three vikings had to work together to finish each level and find their way back home. A sequel, The Lost Vikings 2, was released in 1997.

In 2014, the first game was added to Blizzard Battle.net as a free download which is emulated through DOSBox.^[1]

References in Warcraft

In the Blizzard-produced Warcraft III bonus mission Monolith, the three possible names for the dark troll hero are Erik the Swift, Baleog the Fierce, and Olaf the Stout, the names of the three Lost Vikings.
There are many Timmies in the Warcraft universe, which might be a reference to The Lost Vikings since the main antagonist of the series is eventually revealed to be a young boy named Timmy.
The Horde-only Uldaman boss encounter the Lost Dwarves, consisting of Olaf, Baelog, and Eric "The Swift" is a reference to the three main characters of the series. Their combat abilities from the original game have been translated faithfully to the Warcraft universe. When killed, Baelog drops the sword [Nordic Longshank], and [Baelog's Shortbow]; Olaf drops a shield, [Olaf's All Purpose Shield], which allows the user to float for 10 seconds; and Eric "The Swift" drops [Worn Running Boots], and a [Horned Viking Helmet] with the ability to charge the enemy, stunning it for 30 seconds and stunning you for a shorter period of time — these abilities are references to the characters' unique abilities in The Lost Vikings. The [Gni'kiv Medallion] and the [The Shaft of Tsol] that were needed in order to release Ironaya were found in the same instance and together formed the name The Lost Vikings backwards.
- In Cataclysm, the Lost Dwarves returned as a trio of Alliance quest givers in the Badlands. Each of them has abilities and quests referencing the abilities of the Lost Vikings they are based on.
- In Warlords of Draenor, Olaf can appear at the Lunarfall Inn or Frostwall Tavern in players' garrisons to offer the quest [40H] Time-Lost Vikings.
Drinking [Kaja'Cola] can make you yell "Dwarves. In. Space!", a fitting description for the Lost Vikings since they are often kidnapped by aliens.
Together, the tree vikings are a playable hero in Heroes of the Storm.
