Thoralius the Wise is an old draenei[1] shaman of the Valiance Expedition.
History[]
Thoralius arrived at Northrend on a ship that shipwrecked and left his pouch there. Stationed in Valgarde in the Howling Fjord during the war against the Lich King, he had an Alliance adventurer assist him with recovering the pouch in order to see into the spirit world and see the past, present, and future of Northrend resided. He used his reagents to enter a trance[2] and saw that the spirit fell under the sway of the Lich King, with his fearsome Val'kyr standing watch over the realm of the elements and guarding a terrible secret. Due to being weak, he asked the adventurer to enter and search Wyrmskull Village in the spirit world in his stead. There, they saw a vision of vrykul from the past and reported this to Thoralius,[1] which confused the shaman as the information he had indicated that the vrykul appeared only recently. Thoralius asked the adventurer to search Nifflevar in the spirit world for clues. The adventurer saw more visions of vrykul and Ymiron, which helped Thoralius reveal a mystery related to the vrykul and the origin of humankind.[3]
Thoralius the Wise in Westfall
It is revealed that Captain Gryan Stoutmantle was at Valgarde for a time (perhaps before moving north to establish the Westfall Brigade Encampment in Grizzly Hills) and befriended Thoralius.[4] After the Cataclysm, Thoralius traveled to Westfall to study the elemental devastation there, reconnecting with the promoted Marshal Gryan. He assisted the Alliance adventurer in a similar fashion as before - using his incense burner and revealing a vision of the past which showed that Edwin VanCleef had a daughter.[5]
He was present during the Legion Invasions of Westfall.
Thoralius can be found at Shatterstone Harbor, one of the Alliance outposts in Vol'dun, where he can be seen studying a map.
