The Shards of Domination.

Objectives

Complete the ritual at the Frozen Throne to open the rift into the Maw.

• Hear Bolvar's instructions
• First shard placed
• Second shard placed
• Third shard placed
• Fourth shard placed
• Ritual completed
• Speak with Lord Darion Mograine at the Crucible of the Damned.

Description

When Sylvanas shattered the Helm of Domination, she was touched by the power it released.

I can sense the echoes of that power, and I know where she has gone.

If you wish to rescue your leaders, the shattered helm can open a path. It cannot bring you back, however. That you must do on your own.

The risk is great, <name>, but there is no other way. We will begin the ritual at once.

Completion

Not the most ideal of arrivals, but at least we are still in one piece.

I have not seen any sign of Tyrande. Either she landed elsewhere or continued on without us. We should keep an eye out.

Notes

Upon accept

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: When the Banshee shattered the helm, it tore a gaping wound through the veil between our world and the Shadowlands.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: During my vigil upon the Frozen Throne, I caught fleeting glimpses into the realms of Death. Among them, I saw a place of inescapable darkness.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: That is where you must go, if you are to save those Sylvanas has taken. Together, we can open the way.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Place the Shards of Domination around the circle of runes. Then the ritual can begin.

Picking up the first shard

As the player begins to laboriously pull the shard to its assigned rune, the representatives of the Alliance and the Horde move to the outside edge of the rune circle.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: When the helm rested upon my head, it took all my will to keep its insidious power in check. Many times, I nearly faltered.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: I could sense a dark presence at the edge of my consciousness. Not Arthas... not Ner'zhul. Something... else.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: It is that very presence I sense lurking beyond the shattered sky above.

Picking up the second shard

Bolvar picks up his hammer and turns away.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: I dare not travel with you. Even free of the helm, I fear I would become bound to the will of its true master.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: But this threat cannot be left unchecked. Therefore, you must venture where I cannot.

Picking up the third shard

Bolvar returns to the center. Darion Mograine and all knights present enter the circle as well.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: The dangers you face will be considerable. Alone, you may well be outmatched.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: To aid in this task, the Knights of the Ebon Blade shall lend you their strength. Darion Mograine has volunteered to fight at your side.

Highlord Darion Mograine says: The Ebon Blade does not fear death. Here, or in realms beyond.

Picking up the fourth shard

Bolvar moves to the teleportation rune in the circle and turns around.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: Living mortals were never intended to cross beyond the veil. Where you are going, you may be unable to return.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: But there is no other course. Death comes to claim Azeroth. It falls to you to defend her.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: The time has come. Take up the shattered helm and we will open the rift.

Picking up the fifth and final shard

The portal opens

A portal emerges from the center and slowly increases in size, filling the entire rune circle.

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon says: The path opens!

Lor'themar Theron says: Your courage will be remembered, champion. Al diel shala.

Genn Greymane says: Find those who were taken and bring them home!

Tyrande Whisperwind says: Rescue the others! The Banshee is mine to kill!

Tyrande moves into the circle.

Genn Greymane says: Tyrande! Don't do this!

Tyrande Whisperwind says: Tor ilisar'thera'nal!

Genn Greymane says: We cannot lose you... to the darkness.

A cutscene plays:

The player and the Ebon Blade fall through the portal and crash into the Maw. The Ebon Blade is scattered and the player is surrounded by Mawsworn enemies.

Darion and Torghast

On the other side of the cutscene, the player and Darion Mograine are the only two left standing at the Crucible of the Damned in the Maw:

Highlord Darion Mograine says: You made it through the rift. Good. I doubt this mission could succeed without you.

Highlord Darion Mograine says: No sign yet of the High Priestess. Perhaps she charged ahead into the chaos.
