- This item is a reference to both the Ashbringer and former lead designer Jeffrey Kaplan, who went by the name Tigole on the forums.
- It was originally added in patch 2.1.0 as simply Trashbringer, though it was a hidden item that could not be viewed in the database. It was renamed when it was made available to Wrath of the Lich King alpha testers.
