Uncle Bedlam is a prominent member of the Bilgewater Battalion who resides in Bilgewater Harbor of Azshara. He appears to be the Battalion’s mascot, promoter, or some other informal leader.

The goblin featured on the Wrenchmen Recruitment Poster is likely Uncle Bedlam because of the physical similarities and relation to Uncle Sam and military recruitment.

Trivia

  • His name is a clear reference to Uncle Sam, a personification of the United States government frequently used for recruitment purposes by the nation’s military since 1812.

Speculation

Questionmark-medium
This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.

Upon completing the lengthy quest chain that ultimately sends you to Uncle Bedlam, he refers to the Bilgewater Battalion as “my army,” and makes many comments about business and finance in regards to the battalion. This could indicate that Uncle Bedlam is in a much more powerful position within the battalion than simply being a “mascot.” Bedlam could also simply be speaking figuratively, however, when referring to the army as his, given that he is its public representative.
