Illidan Datamined Pic

Okay, so there are "too many pics on that page", I guess I'll just replace your pic with mine - after all, their both "ugly datamined pictures", since I'll bet anything you haven't gotten close enough to Illidan to take that screenshot. ~ Peregrine

Does the image actually further the article? The image is an eyesore. Why exactly do we need an image of Illidan crouching over a skull, particularly one that's taken out of context? --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 19:04, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

An "eyesore"? How is it an eyesore, its a very dramatic screenshot, does Kirochi's screenshot "further the article" either? No. So I guess I'll go delete that picture as well. Or is there something in the WoWwiki rules that says every edit by Peregrine2976 must immediately be deleted by Ragestorm with nothing but very shaky reasons? ~ Peregrine

Which one specifically are you talking about? Chances are I want to remove that one as well. --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 21:10, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
The demon form? That one is stupid...--SWM2448 21:12, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

I am referring to the "demon form" one. ~ Peregrine

Odd, I don't think that's Kirochi's. Feel free to remove it at your convenience, if I don't get there first. --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 22:25, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
I win!--SWM2448 22:26, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
I was trying to be polite, but you're being an asshole. I never put this demon form picture, Syntopia did.
And your wow model viewer image is still ugly and useless. Stop screwing up this page. If you want to contribute usefully, go and take screenshots for the thousands of NPC pages that are still stubs.
As Ragestorm said, this picture is an eyesore, and I agree with Sandwichman on the demon form one, which I NEVER POSTED THERE. I'm removing it again. This is the last warning you'll get from me.--K ) (talk) 01:33, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Bookkeepers rules

8. Applicant is to NEVER refer to the remains of Draenor in the plural. Non-negotiable.

What's the meaning of this rule? I never heard about a plural for Dreanor(s)!!! N'Nanz 08:50, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
Hehe, I couldn't wait for that question to come from anyone. Ragestorm was talking about the "remains of Draenor", or Outland as it were.
The "outlands" typo has become so common and so annoying that our beloved lore god has decided to close all the doors to the ones who don't even care about proper spelling, especially on such used and frequently found names--K ) (talk) 10:15, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
) That's it... It seemed to me so foregone that I can't believe existed somebody who should mistake!!! N'Nanz 10:48, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

(app left off, your message remaining for context)

That's OK. As you can see, there are lots of applicants and no room for you. I agree, few bookkeepers are active as of today, but consider the period we're in. That's right, summer (well, not for me, as I'm in Australia right now, but I'm having summer holidays). We'd like to give them some more time, as they belong to the oldest and the most valuable members here at WoWwiki. Anyway, Ragestorm is working on our renewal (somehow) and, as a fairly known, experienced and thoughtful WoWwikian, you should have no doubt that you are going to be warned when we hire new bookkeepers.
Anyway, I'm rather tired to see so many people applying here, only seeing the title of bookkeeper as a nobles privilege. This is not for you especially, Sky. You were just the nth to apply, wrong moment. This place is meant to be a helper's job, and we need the best ones.
I don't even feel valuable enough to be a bookkeeper when I see so many guys coming up and pretending they could do the same as I. Right, I'm not that useful to the community, and there are two things I dread to happen: 1) my becoming a worthless bureaucrat and getting kicked off (which would be good after all if I really become useless) and 2) my successor meet the same fate.--K ) (talk) 08:17, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
It is a little disturbing to me when you, who are obviously an important person in the bookkeeping application process, treat any applicants with any disrespect. I am quite frankly surprised at this response from you, even if it is understandable (I know how frustrating some things can be). I think you do a marvelous job, and I don't want to replace you, whom seem to still be with us. That cannot be said for all of those on the list on the bookkeeping page.
There was one word in particular I'm going to ask about: when you say "warned," in reference to looking for new bookkeepers, doesn't this page serve its purpose? You don't have to go looking for new contributors to bring into the fold; you just need to wait and see who applies. If the person you really want to apply doesn't, then go leave a message at his talk page. Applications also have the possibility of uncovering the gem who works his butt off, but for whatever reason hasn't gotten the recognition he wants and/or deserves (yes, I'm using him as an example, because he does work his butt off and he has added to the dragons section). Maybe. Maybe I'm looking for other people whom I know I can go to and be comfortable with in case I'm having my own lore issues, as Bookkeeper to Bookkeeper. I pester Baggins over IRC all the time, or I squabble there with whomever wants to. Or maybe I want to have the chance to help others; I have the information at hand, much like Baggins does. I love helping people, in case you couldn't discern that from the original application.
Note that this was written spur of the moment as a response to you, and maybe also to show you that I have the passion and the knowledge required. I don't want to replace anybody, I just wanted to let Rage or you know that I was here to be used. I think I understand why you were so chilly at User talk:Ragestorm#Bookkeepers now. --Sky (t · c · w) 21:24, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Believe me or not, it's not easy being respectful to everyone when they all come up with the same claims and all at the same time. I can't recall any bookkeeper who was recruited without application, though (I may be wrong, anyhow). I think this discussion has nothing to do here, if you want to talk this further come to my talk page.--K ) (talk) 00:11, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Only thing I'd like to reply with to that is that I made no claims that were uncalled for, other than the implied fact that I have good knowledge of the wiki through the number of contributions that I've made (implied for by the rules for the app), and that I have background in Warcraft steeped in lore, which was also asked for by the application's rules. :) --Sky (t · c · w) 00:18, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Right. Forgive me for this pissed off rant. But wait and don't apply twice, please.--K ) (talk) 00:28, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Largely, being rude to most of the applicants (although, I shouldn't really be talking, given my noted contempt for a large number people in this world), including Kirkburn. I appreciate the frustration, but most of them aren't worth it. As for that rehash, It's largely finished- in a few days, you and Baggins will beta for me. --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 16:34, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
I guess that's what they get for not reading at all our current policy. About Kirkburn, I didn't mean to offend him at all, I was just trying to guess if he still contemplated a Bookkeeper's charge, as he hadn't answered me about this point for several months. My bad. And as you acknowledge it, you're not that polite with some applicants too.

Could stand for Dark Tales (or Dull Title, as you want). I am currently working on this WoW motion picture as the scenarist and the English subtitler. We have recently released a "buzz" (technical displaying teaser), that you can see here and here. This video might be discreet about its lore-respecting nature, but I swear I did my best to make it fit the universe of Warcraft (never mind the dual Ashbringers, it was just a test). Any feedback?--K ) (talk) 21:04, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

But according to wowwiki policy we do not use terms like canon or non-canon, nor speculate in that direction, see lore.Baggins 08:37, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Does that mean I'm finally going to find an use for the "flavor lore" term? :D--K ) (talk) 08:50, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Everything is flavor lore by definition technically, I was asked not to throw that around in every single article by Ragestorm due to redundancy... :p.Baggins 08:53, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
All right! I was just foolish in my attempt to categorize everything.
Oh, last thought, just what the hell is a supernatural pregnancy? Is this canon? :-P--K ) (talk) 08:55, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Well first off pretty much everything in that section of article is pure speculation, a not necessarily "official", it has the speculation tab for a reason... Anycase supernature pregnancy is a concept in fantasy and religious beliefs where by a spirit can impregnate a host. It would also explain how two deities would be able to procreate yet having utterly different physical or spiritual forms for example an earth elemental and a keeper of the grove, :p... In anycase I'm pretty sure the idea has been mentioned in the RPG for unrelated topic, but I thought I'd bring it up as a possibility.-Baggins 09:03, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Haha, now Garona is Jesus Christ (rolls on the floor laughing his ass off). Well, I say Theradras and Zaetar were superior beings and had god blood, that's how it works.--K ) (talk) 09:08, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
...or Mithra, :p... Medivh had "god" blood too if you count the fact he was possessed by Sargeras... Medivh's Eternal status has to count for something, ;).Baggins 09:13, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Wow, hadn't heard about Mithra for ages, to an extent that I'd first thought you were talking about Mithrandir :P But anyway, supernatural pregnancies in WoW are always explained by flesh contact, no matter what the result is. Keep that as a speculation but don't come and tell me that it's already been seen in Warcraft.--K ) (talk) 09:22, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Funky images uploaded

I'm getting the message "Error creating thumbnail: Image type not supported" on the following images you recently uploaded:

Either the MIME-type is wrong (MIME type: image/x-ms-bmp) or you tried to upload BMPs with the JPG extension which will not work. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 10:50 PM PDT 25 Sep 2007

Yep, I get that message too, and I can't see where the problem comes from. The original image couldn't be reduced in its character infobox and I decided to investigate why. Then I saw this error message, about a hundred times re-uploading the same one with the good extension, and still it didn't work, even after changing its name. I must be the MIME type. Can you put it right for me? You can find the image by reaching the NPC's page or by hitting the 'higher resolution' part of the images' pages. Thank you.--K ) (talk) 20:44, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Excuse me, but a good summary of what one is is better than it being a redirect. You're being somewhat impolite. I'm pretty sure Kirkburn and the others don't approve of that kind of behavior. Garm 21:54, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

This is a joke, Garm. I am sure you can understand it, and in no way I meant to offend you rather than some ideas you sometimes put up. The idea was just dropped on the channel and meant for Dotted, who would have found it funny, I guess. Kirkburn disagrees with my behavior and even if I think he is overreacting I understand why he disapproves of this. I was not sure about how you'd react and I was thinking about removing it in the following minute. I would never have written something that rude on an existing page, let alone on your own one. I beg your pardon for this, and look forward to seeing you show more humour in the future.--K ) (talk) 22:04, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
I thought is was rude... --SWM2448 22:15, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
Ah well, we are all equals, is there a way to make fun of others without being rude? I'm referring to the French meaning of 'make fun of', without the despising part.--K ) (talk) 22:25, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
"Retard jokes" aren't the humor I'm looking for. The word is used as a derogatory term and I'm sure it would be serious to some people. Garm 23:43, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
Words have been spoken on IRC. User:Kirkburn/Sig3 00:03, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
This is why I chose not to use a word that was explicitly referring to a mental state (I'd rather say mentally challenged/handicapped), and you're obviously not 'some people'. I apologize to you, I hope you'll understand that, to me, this is not the same thing as having criticized any kind of 'retarded' (common word, it's a pity, that's why I only use it in jokes) people. Kirkburn, thx.--K ) (talk) 00:07, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Not a problem. I appriciate it.Warthok Talk Contribs 18:50, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

WP:NPOV. What you added was particularly non-neutral. It would be fine with a citation that said he had been that way, but until such time... --Sky (t | c | w) 18:31, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Citation please. I would argue that it is not fact, especially the part about being a child killer. Unless of course, you can cite somewhere that he literally killed children, and that this is notable to Drek'Thar. Unless you propose to add it to Durtan's and Gul'dan's and Ner'zhuls' pages (which would, again, be incorrect, as there's no citation anywhere, except in the case of Durotan, yes, Durotan). That nobody deigned to respond to you on your talk page does not make your action any more incorrect or correct; I reverted your changes based on the above policy. I remember nothing clearly from RotH explicitly stating that he is a child murder, which is what it would take for me to agree with you.
Stalked, torn to shreds, and burnt to ashes? Eh? You make a better case for war criminal, but in this case, that's an our world term, rather than a their world turn. Feel free to add that he enjoyed the slaughter, at the time, as the book does indeed state that. It however, does not state him to be a criminal nor a child-killer (unless, again, you feel like hunting down specific references). --Sky (t | c | w) 21:56, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Have you finished the book yet? :) I don't want to spoil anything about Durotan... Give me a page number for these things. I'm serious; you add a page number, and they can go in. I'll confirm it in my copy of the book, but until that time.
It was more the way you phrased it: "Durotan was a vicious draenei-killing warmonger," when the book states (from memory) it as him feverishly believing that the draenei should be killed, due to the fact that Gul'dan deceived them.
Then they were all war criminals, if that is the definition. They all attacked and killed innocents; even Durotan.
No, he only feared about how to handle the Horde now that the draenei were here to tell the Alliance about his people and their past doings. I believe a cohesion of the Horde is more important to Thrall than spreading the truth among his people and taking back his support from Drek'thar, who is clearly opposing the Alliance at the moment, hence the draenei.
Drek'thar has got good reason to oppose the Alliance, as they are invading his homeland. Their ultimatum to the Frostwolves is to either move out of the way so the Explorer's League can tear up the ground looking for artifacts, or die. Even if you maintain that no orc who played any part in that should ever be forgiven or shown mercy regardless of how much they change over the years, even if I were to agree with you, I would still ask why the whole Frostwolf Clan should suffer for Drek'thar's past actions. Drek'thar is not opposing the Alliance because he has something against draenei; he's opposing them because they're trying to evict his Clan, many of whom were either children or not even born during the slaughter of the draenei.
As for Drek'thar himself, he was being played by Kil'jaeden just like everybody else. He grew up being told to honor the spirits of his ancestors, and suddenly the spirits of his ancestors were telling him that the draenei were evil and determined to destroy the orcs. That would have been enough by itself, but then a draenei told him that those spirits he was taught to revere were attracted to Oshugun by the presence of the naaru in the mountain. If you don't think it made sense for Drek'thar to be angry when he heard that, think about it: he was being told that a place he was always taught was a holy place wasn't holy at all, and that the spirits of his ancestors were drawn to that place because they were being drawn to a creature greater than them. Never mind how diplomatically Velen (who I think did the talking) tried to phrase it; here's how Drek probably heard it: "The only special thing about Oshugun is that there's a naaru inside it, and that naaru is our god, and our god is better than your god or ancestral spirits or whatever it is you orcs worship." Of course he would take that as a slap in the face.
Yes, Drek should have suspected something when the elements refused to answer his call any more. But by then he was too caught up in the mob mentality, had been conditioned to listen unquestioningly to the spirits for his entire life, and was incensed that the draenei would insult those spirits.
Also, he eventually realized what he did was wrong and is genuinely remorseful. He's better now. That should be the end of it.--Illidan Rocks 21:34, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
How did this get onto Thrall? o_o --Sky (t | c | w) 00:19, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
