The Veiled Hand was a human sect who served the Burning Legion. The cult was formed during the Legion's third invasion. Its members were the ruling council of the Darkshire town and its guards, the Night Watch.

Their goal was to bring about the downfall of Stormwind.

Notes[]

  • Interestingly, in the non-canon RPG books, Mayor Ello Ebonlocke had already shown distaste for the King.
  • Watcher Ladimore was a member of the Veiled Hand during the Legion beta, but this was changed due to player objections.

Speculation[]

Questionmark-medium
This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.

It is unclear what exactly motivated this change of allegiance in the Night Watch. Watcher Ladimore speaks of dark magic being at play, suggesting the Watchers have lost themselves to demonic corruption. Further to this, Ladimore mentions the Night Watch believed the lies of the Herald, which according to Althea Ebonlocke consisted of promises of freedom and respect, though what these two things entailed is unknown.[2]

It can be speculated that due to the years of neglect from the Kingdom of Stormwind,[3] the Herald may have persuaded the Night Watch to take the aid of the Burning Legion in rebelling for their independence from Stormwind.
