Information[]

Walls are structures which are used to create a wall around your town. They can be built in the vicinity of your buildings.

While they are not very tough, Walls can delay enemy units for a few seconds, giving your ranged units more time to vanquish them. They are particularly good when combined with Catapults, which can often score direct hits on the enemies while they're busy knocking down a Wall. They are also useful for stopping Invisible units sneaking into your town.

Details[]

Wall HP is controlled by the map data. Each tile is 2 bytes (which is needed, anyway, since the forest, swamp and cave tilesets exceed 256) and the second value controls it's HP. Every unit in the game is given a "Wall damage" value to avoid accidentally bringing the wall down to 1 HP (thus replacing the tile with something else). The walls are given 2 sets of 160 HP: For their undamaged and damaged states. Reducing a wall's HP to 0 while undamaged will change the wall to a damaged state and give it another 160 HP. Reducing the 2nd stage to 0 HP results in the wall being replaced with a tile a unit can walk over, effectively destroying it.

The same damage set also applies to doors in the various caves and dungeons; the door tiles happen to use the same ID#s the cave and forest tilesets use. The key difference is doors have 0 HP, meaning a hit from any attack will (first) damage, then destroy a door tile.

Trivia[]

  • In versions 1.00 and 1.01, walls had a number of different mechanics.
    • Gold cost: 400
    • Build Time: 470 frames
    • A unit does 8x their regular damage to the wall when attacking it.
    • A unit must reach melee distance to attack a wall, regardless of how effective their normal range is for attacking.
  • Walls were removed from Demo version 1.12.
