Biography[]

Shadows of the Horde[]

WoW-novel-logo-16x62 This section concerns content related to the Warcraft novels, novellas, or short stories.

Following the rebirth of the Thunder King, Lei Shen ordered the Zandalari to begin the process of resurrecting his warlords. Despite interference from Vol'jin and his allies, the Zandalari were able to resurrect Warlord Kao after sacrificing two human soldiers, Brother Dao, and Brother Shan. Once resurrected, Vol'jin noticed that despite his resurrection at their hands the mogu warlord viewed the Zandalari with contempt. Furthermore, only Khal'ak anticipating Kao's fury at the pandaren presence and Vol'jin's quick action saved the lives of Chen Stormstout and Brother Cuo. Knowing he was unable to do anything at this time, Kao took no action, but Vol'jin upon seeing the fury in warlord's eyes knew that Kao would not forget nor forgive either Vol'jin or Khal'ak for their part in this.[1]

Upon reaching the Isle of Thunder and rejoining his master, Kao sought out Vol'jin upon which Kao expressed his belief that only a fool would oppose the Thunder King. Kao went on to say that his master decreed that the warlord could slay as many pandaren as he desired; Vol'jin's companions included.[2] Upon Vol'jin's departure from the Isle of Thunder, Kao remarked that Vol'jin could never have been trusted for being in league with the Shado-pan and was unimpressed and shocked when Vilnak'dor appointed Khal'ak to lead Zandalari against the Shado pan and their allies. However after seeing Khal'lak in action, Kao was more willing to let her and remarked that he would lend his two bodyguards - Chae-nan and Deng-Tai - to assist. Though agreeing that Khal'ak would be a good choice, Vilnak'dor was quick to point out to Khal'ak that Kao saw her as an enemy and would poison the Thunder King against her.[3]

Despite Warlord Kao being one of the Thunder King's generals, he was nowhere to be found on the Isle of Thunder when the Alliance and Horde assaulted it.

During the Fourth War, Warlord Kao arrived to Warport Rastari in Zuldazar to claim land he believed was the mogu's by right after Zul promised the mogu a new empire. Kao, Vilnak'dor, and the Kao-Tien mogu attacked the Zandalari and Kao was slain by Horde adventurers. After his death, Vilnak'dor revealed to the Zandalari that Kao's attack was only a distraction to keep them away from Rastakhan as Zul began a coup.
