The hidden valley.
The valley in Cataclysm.
West of the entrance to Gnomeregan is a broad valley running north from Coldridge to the mountains bordering the northwestern end of Dun Morogh.
The valley is clearly visible on the zone map but has no name. As of patch 4.0.3a, the zone has been fleshed out and filled with trees. There are Alpine Hare companions available for pet battles, as well as a couple of Black Bears that are menacing Anton and Jermaine Buckey.
Purpose
It is possible that this could be the area above Gnomeregan, since the dungeon's layout about matches the area, and Gnomeregan is more or less below it.

Patch 4.0.3a (2010-11-23): The inaccessible valley west of the Gnomeregan gate has been fleshed out and filled with trees.
