The What's New (internally called splash screen) panel informs players of the latest patch content additions. It can be accessed through the Game Menu, but also automatically appears on the screen upon logging when a major patch is released.
The information displayed may be tailored to the character. For example, the patch 6.0.2 panel displayed the Iron Horde Incursion world event for max-level characters, while lower-level characters saw the updated character models revamp.
