- The Winterpelt Furbolg speak a language no one seems to understand. Perhaps more will be revealed in the future.
The Winterpelt Furbolg are a very isolated furbolg tribe based out of Winterpelt Hollow in northeastern Azure Span on the Dragon Isles.
The Winterpelt were unique amongst the furbolg tribes of the Dragon Isles due to their isolationist nature.[1] After the Primalists arrived in the Azure Span, they sought to recruit the furbolg tribes of the span into their forces. While the Rustpine clan accepted this bargain and joined the Primalists, the Winterpelt refused and subsequently found themselves enslaved by Stormshackler Rynea.[2]
Under Rynea's thrall, the tribe became actively hostile and assaulted the Dragonscale Expedition outpost at Theron's Watch immediately to the southwest of their home. This would however prove to be Ryena's undoing, as the expedition would send adventurers on a fact-finding mission to figure out what caused the Winterpelt to go from isolationists to hostiles and these adventurers would ultimately kill her and liberate the tribe. In the immediate aftermath of her death, Chieftain Kranac Sagesnow gestured to adventurers to leave their cave and the tribe ceased their hostile activities.[2]
Sonova Snowden hopes to crack the code of the Winterpelt's language in order to help establish proper diplomatic relations relationships between the tribe and the Dragonscale Expedition.
Sources[]

Patch 10.0.7[]
In patch 10.0.7, Sonova Snowden sends mail to players who completed the Winterpelt Hollow and Rustpine Den chains:
<Name>! I've made a breakthrough with tha Winterpelt dialect. Ya helped get tha ball rollin' on this, so I felt like I ought ta keep ya apprised of the situation.
Meet me in Theron's Watch in the Azure Span and I'll tell ya all about it.
- Sonova Snowden
[Sonova's Request] is attached, which starts another quest chain:

Language skill[]
After completing [70] Academic Acquisitions, players gain a new line in their Languages passive skill:
- Languages — Furbolg (Proficiency 1/100)
To gain proficiency, complete the repeatable quest [70] Additional Academic Acquisitions ninety-nine more times, each time turning in five [Liberated Furbolg Artifacts]. Rarely, any creature that can drop an artifact can also drop an [Intact Scribe Stick], which is worth a skill point all by itself in [70] Astonishing Academic Acquisitions.
Note that the items drop regardless of quest status, so should players feel the desire to loot a hundred or so without ferrying a handful to Sonova each time, feel free!
