- According to the American Heritage Dictionary, "Dwarves" and "Dwarfs" are both proper pluralizations of "Dwarf". However, since Tolkien popularized it in Lord of the Rings, "dwarves" has become the go-to usage for fantasy settings, and Blizzard uses that spelling in its official materials.

- Chanter is sometimes used in-game as a synonym for "spellcaster" (Shadowforge Chanter, Blazebound Chanter), but this usage has nothing to do with enchanting. It should not be used as an abbreviation in articles.

- Exodar: Exador, Exedar
- Felhunter: Often confused with "felhound".
- Feral: Ferel
- Feralas: Fearalas, Ferals

- Frost (mage specialization/talent tree): Ice, Water
- Gnomeregan: Gnomergan, Gnomeragan, Gnomeragon
- Interestingly, "Gnomeragon" does show up in the game's files, such as the music files "gnomeragon01-zone" and "gnomeragon02-zone". It may have been a valid spelling early in development, or this may simply be a typo.
- Gruul : Grull
- eg. Grull's Lair, Grull the Dragonkiller
- Gryphon: Griffon
- Highborne: Highbourne, Highborn
- While highborn would be the proper spelling in English, the standard Warcraft spelling is highborne.
- -borne usually means "held up or supported," whereas -born usually indicates origin or birth. This suggests the Highborne elves received that name because they were held in high regard by their society, possibly due to their magical abilities, rather than inheriting the class at birth.

- Rouge means "red" in French, or a type of makeup usually applied to the cheeks in English. It is not interchangeable with the WoW class rogue.

- Warcraft generally prefers shaman as a plural, rather than shamans. See Shaman Spelling.
- Shattrath City: Sharttrah City, Shattrah City
- Shadow Labyrinth: "Shadow Labs" is a common abbreviation among players, but it generally should not be used in articles.

- Stockade: Stockades
- A Stockade is a prison, in this case; pluralizing it means that you would have more than one prison.

- Tarren Mill was introduced in Warcraft II, long before the tauren became part of the lore. There are also barely any tauren at Tarren Mill.
