eithris

heya! i'm eithris. been around for nearly three years now, working on... well, basically whatever catches my attention. q: lately, i've been very into updating templates and categories—trying to fix up issues that were never addressed and implement minor features that might make the site easier to use for editors and readers. that's the primary reason for my application here: 1. i feel like a pain in the rear with my constant requests for changes on protected pages, and 2. i would love to be able to help out with other administrative work, like deletion requests and other folks' template/feature requests.

i know i can be stubborn at times, even overly critical, but i generally try my best to keep a cool head and listen to what others have to say. i also keep an eye on talk page activity and can almost always be reached on the wowpedia discord.

anyway, i think that's all i have to say! whatever the consensus is, i thank you for your consideration. <3 —Eithris (talk) 23:23, 3 May 2020 (UTC)

PeterWind

I'd like to nominate PeterWind. Been here a long while, does quality work, and is open to communication even in the worst arguments! Everyone must know him well by now, and I think adminship wouldn't look bad on him. -- — MyMindWontQuiet 17:21, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

Discussion

While in the end, MMWQ forced the hand of fate, I had for some time been considering applying for this post myself. I had thought I might wait for a time where less was going on, but I suppose in the end, such a time may never arrive. Getting invited to the Shadowlands alpha right from the start certainly came out of left field for me, and meant postponing a fair deal of other projects I was working on. I spend a fair amount of time working on removed content. If anything, the admin powers would be a great help when checking pages that had been in the past been removed, but due to more recent policy changes could be brought back. Occasionally those pages may contain interesting information that may be hard to find nowadays. Not always, but at least I'd no longer need to pester current admins to check such pages for me. 1. Neutral - I genuinely do think Petey is funny, smart and a hard worker, but I often disagree with the way he chooses to spend his time on wowpedia. I'm not sure giving him access to administration tools would really change that. Xporc (talk) 18:46, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
  2. Neutral - I haven't been active too much lately, so I have no recent experience, but I would lean towards a support vote from previous interactions. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 23:51, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

  1. Oppose While Peter does a good job, he, sadly, ignores boilerplates and general wowpedia / wikipedia style guides and more importantly adds unnecessary things on item pages which is a large part of his editing. However, if he were to change that I'd be more than happy to change my vote. --Mordecay (talk) 21:15, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

Berenal

I've thought about tossing my hat in here for a while and decided it's better to give it a chance than instantly blow it off in my head. I've been editing on the wiki since roughly vanilla back during the WoWWiki days and while my edits have been of varying quality I'd like to think that my more modern ones are more productive than not. I have experience managing wikis as I am currently a co-owner of a fanon roleplay wiki for the server Moon Guard that has over 10,000 pages and growing. I've got experience in project management from my career path (Media and PR), management of a roleplaying community that has been around since Cataclysm as well as having managed several server community events that consist of herding upwards of 100 to 200 people at a time.

The bulk of my editing focus is on fleshing out aspects of meaningful lore that have gone ignored. Largely considering smaller faction / race stubs that could have more nuance or lore care given to them. Recently I've done so with pages such as Wastewander and the Drust in hopes of bringing them up to standard with more conventional pages like Worgen or Night elf. If I were put into an administrative role, I'd like to mainly focus on getting projects done, such as zone de-stubbing (like tackling the herculean mountain that is Cataclysm's revamp that still to this day has many unfinished pages) and finding people with common interest in that to get these pages filled out.

I have little interest in pages that are just mobs, such as the infamous "Dark Iron Dwarf is a Dark Iron Dwarf", but I do have interest in filling out organizational pages or finding lore tidbits that have been over looked, such as with Gilnean military or filling out mentions of lore for regions such as Ruins of Gilneas. The bulk of my interests derive around filling in those gaps that in pages that while the framework is there, the filling is lacking.

I'm more than well aware of my shortcomings in previous editing decisions or discussions and I acknowledge them entirely as things I'm trying to improve on, so I have no hard feelings if folks feel based off of those or just a general dislike for my style of editing that I should not be fit for this position. I'd just like to at least show the initiative that I do care about where Wowpedia goes and would like to see the community grow and flourish as a place where people can come for meaningful information rather than finding stubs or incomplete pages from almost ten years ago. Regardless, thank you for the consideration and I hope that going forward the wiki will only continue to grow as we move into yet another expansion and have also re-merged with Wowwiki to serve as the go-to source for lore information. --Berenal (talk) 14:00, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

  1. Support Berenal is the kind of user I strongly believe we need more of. As a community, wowpedia is almost entirely focused on what I perceive as unnecessary and meaningless busywork, and we're really bad at actually working on zone, NPC and organization lore. To hear such a speech is both refreshing and slightly encouraging -- Xporc (talk) 14:10, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
  2. Support I do agree with Xporc (Yuvalal (talk) 18:53, 29 May 2020 (UTC))

Nominating Surafbrov for admin. He's been a good editor for a long time, but more importantly he's now a Wiki Manager at FANDOM and I feel like it makes sense for him to be an admin as well, if he accepts. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 17:29, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
