Wyvern mounts (also known as "Wind Riders") are the standard flying mount form of the wyvern for the Horde. They come in a variety of colors, and run on all fours like a cat for land travel.
Expert Mounts[]
A player may purchase these mounts from:
- Dama Wildmane <Windrider Keeper> at Shadowmoon Village in Shadowmoon Valley,
- Bana Wildmane <Wind Rider Keeper> at Thrallmar in Hellfire Peninsula.
- Mei Francis <Exotic Mounts> in Dalaran.
These mounts require Expert flying (costs 250 to train) and have a 60% land speed and 150% air speed increase, cost 50 each. Faction reputation discounts applying to reduce the price.There is also a Wyvern Holder in Orgrimmar.
Artisan (fast) Mounts[]
These mounts give you a 280% increase in the air and a 100% speed increase on the ground.
These mounts cost 100 each, and are available from the same vendors as the Expert mounts above. Again, faction reputation discounts apply.
Other vendor mounts[]
- [Armored Blue Wind Rider] is only available from Mei Francis in Dalaran, and only purchasable by the Horde. She charges 2,000 for it. The Alliance equivalent is the [Armored Snowy Gryphon].
- The [Grand Armored Wyvern] is purchased for 2000 from Tuskripper Grukna in Krasarang Wilds. You must be exalted with Dominance Offensive to buy it.
Quest[]
The [Grand Wyvern] is a reward from completing [15-35] Breath of Darkest Shadow, the final part in the Dominance Offensive questline.
Shop[]
The [Alabaster Thunderwing] is the Horde mount from the Collector's Edition of Warcraft's 15th Anniversary. The mount, along with Alabaster Stormtalon, will be available on the Blizzard Shop in a Mount Bundle, separate from the Collector's Edition.
Unobtainable[]
The [Spectral Wind Rider] mount is the Horde-side reward for when an inactive player accepts your Scroll of Resurrection and subscribes to World of Warcraft for at least 30 days. This reward became first available on March 6, 2012.
Loaned Wind Rider[]
The [Loaned Wind Rider Reins] is a special vehicle flying mount purchased from "Honest" Max outside of K3 in Storm Peaks for free, so long as you are level 77 and have not purchased [Cold Weather Flying]. It can only be used in Sholazar Basin, Storm Peaks, and Icecrown.
